How can I use my Peloton with my Fit Father Programs?

Question:
"Hey FFP Team, I just bought a Peloton bike. How can I incorporate the Peloton into my Fit Father workouts?"

Short Answer:
If you're using the FF30X Program track, you can swap out any Metabolic Resistance Training / Pyramid workout (e.g. APEX10) for a Peloton workout... although we do highly recommend saving your biking workouts for your cardio / HIIT / free days if possible ... as the FF30X workouts we designed are optimal for the best results possible.

If you're using the Old School Muscle (OSM) Program track, you can use your Peloton for your off/cardio/HIIT days. You could also occasionally, substitute the Peloton for your leg training (as a periodic substitution for Squats) and still complete your upper body strength training motions. That said, for the purposes of building muscle, we do recommend you stick primarily with weight training. Too much cycling may actually hinder your muscle growth results as it can burn too many calories that your body needs for lean mass gain while also impacting your muscles' recovery for your upcoming strength training sessions.

Longer Answer:
Pelotons are gaining steam in the fitness industry and we are often asked how they can be integrated into both the FF30X and OSM programs. Using a Peloton can be very effective with its built-in coaching and interval protocols.

In FF30X, we are big proponents of using cardio/HIIT as a secondary part of your training so the Peloton can seamlessly fit in. As a baseline, we recommend completing at least 3 metabolic routines (i.e. pyramid workouts) each week with sporadic cardio/HIIT days sprinkled in. We do recommend emphasizing your resistance training days over the cardio/HIIT days, as lifting weights is much more effective at changing your body composition. However, cardio/HIIT days are also essential as you are performing active recovery exercise, to help your muscles heal while burning even more calories.
